Saltdal Municipality
Saltdal is a large municipality (2,213 km2) and with just over 4,700 inhabitants, it goes without saying that there is plenty of space to welcome visitors and new inhabitants.
The municipality borders Rana in the south, Fauske in the north, Bodø and Beiarn in the west, and the Swedish municipality of Arjeplog in the east.
Community centers
Rognan is the official municipal center and where half of the inhabitants in Saltdal live. The second community center is in Røkland, which is a smallert center where you can find some shops and cafees.
Rognan:
Rognan center offers a larger selection of shops and services. The streets in the center of Rognan are beautifully cobbled and the main street is car-free. The stores are ready to welcome you with their great service and a wide range of products. You can park here completely free of charge. There is free parking in the entire municipally.
Røkland:
Here you can find, among other things, grocery stores, restaurants, second-hand shops, charging stations and fastfood.. The Røkland area is also very popular for its great sports facilities such as ski tracks in the winter season.
National parks
The municipality houses Nordland National Park Centre, which is an information center for the county's many beautiful national parks. Two of them, Saltfjellet/Svartisen and Junkerdal lie wholly and partly within the municipality's borders and are frequently visited in connection with both hunting, fishing, berry picking and pure nature experiences.

The municipality has a well-developed services in regards to health, schools, kindergartens, sports and cultural life.The sports hall and community center are also the result of voluntary efforts, which the rising generation benefit from.
Saltdal is known for being a good municipality for residents in all phases of life, and you can often hear people talking about Saltdal as a good place for both growing up and growing old.
