Summer Open

This summer, Næstby brygga in Rognan is once again open to visitors. From Monday to Friday, 10:00–15:00, you’re welcome to drop by and experience a local exhibition by the fjord. The initiative is led by Ulf Bakken, who has made the summer opening possible and helped bring the brygga to life with content.

Photo exhibition with local stories

Inside Næstby brygga, you’ll find a photo exhibition featuring historical images from Saltdal, offering a glimpse into how the village and fjord have evolved over time. You’ll also find models of the piers, kick sleds, and other local details that reflect everyday life in the area.

In addition, there is a small sales exhibition by local photographer Tommy Pettersen, showcasing wildlife and nature from Saltdal.

The piers at Rognan

The piers at Rognan are an important part of the cultural history along the Saltdalsfjord.

In earlier times, Rognanfjæra was a bustling hub of activity, with workshops, boathouses, and slipways lining the shoreline where boats were built and launched. The remaining piers today are part of this historic waterfront and give a clear sense of how closely life in Rognan was tied to the fjord.

Today, the area still forms part of a culturally rich waterfront environment that carries traces of this maritime heritage.

A summer stop by the fjord

Næstby brygga is a nice place to include on a walk along the waterfront in Rognan — a simple stop where you can take in the fjord and a bit of local history at the same time.
